I often hear that school teaches us a lot of subjects but does not really prepare us for adult life. I partly understand that. School did not teach me how to build a business, raise children or start again in another country. But the older I get, the more clearly I see that school did give me a lot of important things. We just did not call them life skills back then.

The hardest decisions for me are not the ones with two clear options. The difficult ones are when I do not know what will happen next but still have to decide. Over time, I stopped waiting for complete clarity and started looking at those situations differently.
Turning 40 did not suddenly make me wiser. I simply started looking at some things differently: time with my family, my health, the people around me and the habit of postponing important things. Moving to another country in my forties made that even more noticeable.
