Articles

I write about family, life in Norway, wellbeing, FitLine, personal growth and business. Some articles are personal stories, while others answer questions I have looked into myself.

I want this business to generate income. But for me, it is not only about money. I have understood the basic idea of network marketing for a long time. What is different now is that I am actually trying to build it consistently and learning skills I had hardly used in practice before.

MY JOURNEY SHCHOKIN.PRO

Why the New Direction Is Not Only About Money for Me

I first became familiar with network marketing back in 2008. My wife and I used products from another international company, attended training events and understood the general idea behind the business model. But we never built the business consistently. So what is new for me today is not network marketing itself. What is new is doing the practical work seriously and regularly.

KNOWING THE MODEL AND BUILDING THE BUSINESS

They turned out to be two very different things

You can understand how network marketing works, attend training and use the products for years. But until you start talking to people regularly, inviting them, answering questions, working with customers and helping new partners, most of that knowledge remains theory.

That difference is something I understand much better now. I am not starting from zero, but many of the practical skills are things I am developing right now.
WHY I CAME BACK TO THIS MODEL

This time I decided not to remain only a product user

Back in 2008, network marketing never became a serious business direction for us. My wife and I used the products, attended training and understood how the model worked, but there was no consistent business activity.

Later, I ran my own service business, worked with a team and clients, and spent years building websites, working with SEO, content and online promotion. By then I had experience that I simply did not have the first time around.

When I started looking more closely at PM-International, I began to see the model differently. Not as something completely new, but as a business where I could use some of the things I already knew while developing skills I still needed to improve.

The difference between then and now is simple for me: before, I understood how the model worked. Now I want to learn how to work in it properly myself.

WHAT IS ACTUALLY NEW FOR ME

Not network marketing itself, but the regular practical work

Some of the skills needed here are already familiar to me from previous work. I have dealt with customers, managed a team, worked with websites, SEO, content and promotion.

But partnership business also involves things that do not automatically become easy just because you have run another kind of business before.

01 Explaining things briefly

Not giving someone a long presentation, but explaining the main idea in a few clear sentences and then answering the questions that actually matter to them.

02 Meeting new people

Not relying only on people you have known for years, but gradually learning to make new contacts, start conversations and expand your circle.

03 Speaking in front of people

A personal conversation and speaking in front of a group feel completely different. That is another skill that gets easier with practice.

04 Taking rejection normally

Someone may say no, not reply or simply not be interested. That is part of the work. It does not have to be taken personally.

“I'M NOT GOOD AT SALES”

I do not like the idea of persuading people either

The word “sales” often sounds as if you are supposed to convince people, fight every objection and somehow force every conversation towards a purchase.

That is not how I want to work. I prefer something much simpler: understand what the person is interested in, explain what I can offer, answer their questions and leave the decision to them.

Not every conversation has to end in a purchase. Not every customer has to become a partner. And not every partner will want to build a large team.

“I DON'T KNOW MANY PEOPLE”

I do not want to build a business that ends with my phone contacts

People you already know can lead to the first conversations, customers and practical experience. But if the entire business stops when you run out of familiar names, I do not think that is a very strong way to work.

There are referrals, new contacts, meetings, social media, short videos, websites, Google search and other ways to reach people who may be interested in the products or the partnership.

A website and SEO are not requirements for every partner. They are simply tools I already know well. Someone else may find a completely different way of working that suits them better.

“I DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME”

Then there is even less reason to try twenty things at once

Most adults already have work, family, children and everyday responsibilities. A huge list of tasks at the beginning often creates only one result: after a short time, the person stops doing anything at all.

I prefer a simpler approach. Choose a few specific actions that can realistically be repeated. Talk to a few people. Join a meeting. Set aside some time for learning. Take one step online if that is a direction you want to develop.

With time, it becomes easier to see what comes naturally, where more practice is needed and how much time a person actually wants to put into the business.

I AM STILL LEARNING TOO

But not because I only just discovered network marketing

The general principle of the model has been familiar to me for a long time. What is different now is that I have decided to regularly do things I previously saw mostly in training or only did occasionally.

I am learning to make invitations shorter. To speak with new people more often. To feel more comfortable talking in front of a group. To record video. To stop giving a long explanation when two sentences are enough. To take rejection more calmly.

My previous experience helps, but it does not do the work for me. Knowing SEO or having managed a team does not automatically mean I know how to invite someone to a meeting well or have the right first conversation about the partnership.

For me, being professional here is not about pretending you already know everything. It is about seeing what you still need to improve and being willing to work on it.

Y.O.U.R. COMMUNITY

Working everything out alone would take much longer

Our team has access to Y.O.U.R. Community, an independent partner community with learning materials, team chats, meetings and people who already have more practical experience.

I use the system myself. I go through the materials, take part in meetings, listen to how other people work and ask questions when something is not clear.

For me, the value of good training is not the amount of information. There is already more than enough information everywhere. The important thing is understanding what you should actually do next.

That is also how I want to work with people in my own team. Not give them everything at once, but help them understand the first actions and then move forward step by step.

WHEN DOES TEAM BUILDING COME INTO IT?

When the person decides they want to take the business further

You can simply use the products. You can recommend them and work with customers. Or, over time, you can decide to build your own partner team.

I do not think a new person needs to start by thinking about a large organisation. First, it makes more sense to understand the products, understand the basic way of working and get some personal experience talking to people.

Later comes another skill: learning how to help someone else go through the same first steps.

“WHAT IF IT DOESN'T WORK FOR ME?”

No one can promise the same result to everyone

I do not want to give the impression that all you need to do is register, watch some training and money will start coming in. That is not how this business works, and it is not how any normal business works.

You have to work with people, take action, learn, practise and repeat. Some people progress faster, others need more time. Everyone has different circumstances, personalities and different amounts of time they are willing to put into it.

But this is also where I see another kind of value. While I am trying to build an income, I am also getting better at communication, presenting ideas clearly, meeting new people, recording video, creating content and working with a team.

I did not come here just to learn new skills. I want to earn money. But if I develop useful skills while building that income, that has value for me too.

THAT IS WHY IT IS NOT ONLY ABOUT MONEY FOR ME

I am curious to see where this work can take me over the next few years

I have already gone through several professional stages. I worked in accounting, became a chief accountant, ran my own service business, managed people, built websites and worked with SEO and content.

In each of those areas, there were things I did not know how to do at the beginning. Later they simply became part of normal work.

I see partnership business in much the same way. Not as an easy way to make money and not as a system that will somehow do the work for me. It is another kind of work where I need to practise, learn and gradually become better at what I do.

The financial result will depend on time and the work I put in. But I can already see that this direction is making me develop skills I had postponed or barely used before.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN PRACTICE

You do not need to decide immediately whether you want to build a large business

You can first look at how the partnership model works, what a new partner actually does, how learning is organised and what kind of support is available. Then you can decide whether it is something you want to explore further.
