I Am Learning To Show Myself
It is easier for me to write a text than to turn on the camera and say a few words. But if I want to move forward, I need to learn not only to write, but also to show myself as a real person.
I Am Learning To Show Myself
I have worked for many years with websites, texts, SEO, content and different online projects. But there is still one thing that is not so easy for me: showing myself. Not a website. Not a finished page. Not a polished text. But myself, my face, my voice and my real path.
This article is about my first small experience of recording short videos. No perfect picture. No big preparation. Just a few seconds, a product in my hands, my daughter behind the camera and the feeling that a new stage can begin from such simple steps.
Today I caught myself thinking that writing articles is already much easier for me than recording myself on video.
A text can be reread. Corrected. Rewritten. You can remove what is unnecessary. You can add a thought.
But a camera is different.
It seems to ask right away: “So, are you ready to be real?”
And here you cannot hide behind a nice paragraph.
I already wrote about the fear of starting something new in the article “It Is Scary To Start Something New. But It Is Even Scarier To Change Nothing” . And today I felt this topic very clearly myself.
Recording yourself is not as simple as it looks
From the outside, it looks easy.
Take the phone. Press the button. Say a few words. Post the video.
But when it comes to actually doing it, many thoughts start running through your head.
How do I look?
What should I say?
What if it looks strange?
What if people think: “Why did he suddenly start recording videos?”
And nothing terrible is really happening. It is just a short video. But inside, there is still a little tension.
Because showing yourself is not only about the camera. It is also about allowing yourself to be seen.
What I am learning
- Not to wait for the perfect moment
- To speak more simply
- Not to be afraid of the camera
- To show real life
- Not to turn everything into a show
- To move in small steps
The first video was very short
Before that, I recorded another short video where I simply told people to follow me.
No big script. No long preparation.
I just tried.
And for me, that was already a small step.
Because thinking: “I need to start recording something” is one thing.
But actually taking the phone, turning on the camera and recording yourself is something else.
Maybe for someone, this is nothing special. But for me, it is part of a new stage.
Then my daughter and I recorded the first video with a product
Today we recorded a very short first video with a product.
And the warmest part of this story for me is that my younger daughter was filming me.
Maybe that is why we recorded it in just a few seconds and almost on the first try.
No pressure. No big team. No studio.
Just me, my daughter, a phone and a normal moment from life.
And you know what? I actually like that.
Because there is something real in it.
I do not want to pretend that I already know how to do everything
Right now, it is important for me to say honestly: I am only learning.
I am learning to speak on camera. I am learning not to feel stiff. I am learning to show a product in a way that feels normal, simple and human.
Not like an advertisement that you want to skip as quickly as possible.
But as a part of life.
Because if a product has really become part of our daily rhythm, I do not need to talk about it in a complicated way.
I can simply show: here I am. Here is my day. Here is what I am trying. Here is what is now part of our new journey.
It is important for me not to lose myself in this process
When you start recording videos, it is very easy to start looking at others.
How they speak. How they stand. How they show a product. How they smile. How they hold the camera.
And that is normal, because you can learn from other people’s experience.
But I do not want to become a copy of someone else.
I want this to be mine.
My words. My rhythm. My humor. My family. My journey.
Not perfect, but honest.
Start
Do not wait until everything is ready. Just make the first small attempt.
Look calmly
Do not criticize yourself for every small thing. Just notice what can be done better next time.
Repeat
Because confidence does not come from thinking. It comes from practice.
I want my children to see more than just the result
It is important to me that my children do not see only finished pages, nice texts or already published videos.
I want them to see the process too.
How dad tries. How dad learns. How dad can feel nervous, but still does it.
Because I do not want to show them a fairy tale where everything works perfectly from the beginning.
I want to show them normal life: if you want something new, you need to start.
Even if it feels a little awkward at first.
Sometimes a new path begins with a very simple video
Not with a big plan.
Not with a perfect script.
Not with professional filming.
But with a short video recorded by your child.
And for me, there is something very right in that.
Because our journey is not somewhere separate from family. It is right inside our life.
In conversations. In attempts. In small steps. In moments like this, which you later remember with a smile.
I do not want to wait until I stop feeling nervous
Because you can wait for a very long time.
You can spend months thinking about how to start correctly.
You can watch others already doing something.
You can find reasons why now is still not the right time.
Or you can simply make a small attempt.
Not perfect. Short. Just a few seconds.
But yours.
I think this is how confidence begins.
I am learning to show myself before everything is perfect
I am learning to show myself now. In the process. With a little nervousness. With my first short videos. With my daughter behind the camera. With simple words and small steps. Because if I wait for the perfect moment, I may never start. And now I want to move.
