Why I Decided to Try It Myself First Before Talking to Others

Why I Decided to Try It Myself First, and Only Then Talk to Others

I do not really trust advice when the person does not use what they are talking about. And at some point I understood: I do not want to be that kind of person either.

Why I Decided to Try It Myself First, and Only Then Talk to Others

It has always felt strange to me when someone recommends something, but does not use it themselves. So I made a simple decision: first I need my own experience, and only then I can talk about it with others.

In short

I want to talk only about things I have tried myself, seen in my own life and can explain in simple words. That feels calmer to me. And more honest toward people.

Once I noticed a simple thing. When someone recommends something to me, and then it turns out they do not even use it themselves, I quickly lose interest in the conversation. Not because they are a bad person. I just do not understand how you can recommend something you have not checked in your own life.

I do not like advice based only on someone else’s words

Sometimes a person starts telling you about something. They speak confidently. They explain it well. They say it is a good thing and that you should pay attention to it.

Then you ask: do you use it yourself?

And the answer becomes unclear. Well, not exactly. I am planning to. Some friends tried it. The company says it is great.

And in that moment, the conversation changes for me. Because I wanted to hear the person, but instead I heard a retelling.

That is why I do not want to do the same. If I recommend something, I need to understand myself what I am talking about.

What matters to me

  • Try it myself first
  • See whether it fits my life
  • Not rush to conclusions
  • Not speak with someone else’s words
  • Not promise what I have not seen myself
  • Speak simply and honestly
  • Leave the decision to the person

This is not only about products

I look at other things the same way.

If I write about moving, I write about what we have gone through ourselves. If I talk about Norway, I talk about what I see in our own life. If I touch the topic of family, it is not book theory, but our ordinary days, mistakes, conclusions and new experience.

I think people can feel that. When there is life behind the words. Not a made-up picture. Not someone else’s story. But something real that the person is actually living through.

It was the same with FitLine

I did not want to start telling everyone about it right away. I wanted to understand for myself how it would fit into our life.

Not for one day. Not just to try it and forget. I wanted to see whether it could become a normal daily habit.

Is it convenient? Do I want to repeat it? Does it fit our rhythm? Or does it feel like something extra that you buy once and then leave on a shelf?

And only when the product started becoming part of our morning, I felt that I could talk about it more calmly. Not from a booklet. From myself.

01

Try

Not start with talking. First understand for myself what it is and how it looks in my own life.

02

Live with it

Give it some time. A first impression does not always show whether something will become part of a normal day.

03

Share

Speak when there is already something I can say from myself. Simply, honestly and without unnecessary decorations.

I do not want people to listen to me with suspicion

Today, many people are careful with any recommendations. And I understand that.

Because it often happens like this: a person seems to be sharing, but in reality they really want you to buy something, join something or agree quickly.

You can feel that. Even when everything is said nicely.

I do not want my words to leave a person feeling that they were pushed somewhere. I prefer when a person can calmly think: interesting, maybe I can ask more.

It is easier for me to speak when I live it myself

When you use a product yourself, you get normal words. Not memorized ones. Not invented ones. Your own.

You can say how it looks in the morning. How you fit it into the day. What is convenient. What you liked. What you still want to understand better.

And that conversation feels completely different. Because you are not trying to look like an expert where you have only just started. You simply speak as a person who is trying something and sharing what he sees.

It is the same with business

I do not want to talk about business as if I already have answers to every question.

I need to go through this path myself. To see how it works. To understand what feels close to me. To learn. To make mistakes. To gradually find my own way of talking to people.

Inviting someone into something I have not started to understand from the inside feels strange to me.

I would rather say honestly: I am in the process myself, this is interesting to me, I see an opportunity here, and that is why I write about it.

I do not need the role of someone who knows everything

I do not want to look flawless. It would not be true anyway.

I may not know something. I may figure things out gradually. I may change my mind. I may misunderstand something at first. That is a normal part of any new path.

But I want to be honest about it.

Because a person who simply says: “I am trying, observing, learning and sharing what I see” feels much closer to me than someone who speaks from day one as if they have already completed the whole journey.

After 40, I do not really want to play roles anymore

Maybe this also came with age.

Earlier, it was easier to get excited about an idea and quickly start telling everyone about it. Now it is more important for me to stop for a moment and understand what I really think about it.

There is less time for empty conversations. And less desire to look like someone you are not.

I want it simpler. Calmer. More human. Without the need to build some image of myself.

When you try something yourself, you understand people’s questions better

If someone asks about a product, it is easier for me to answer when I have gone through it myself.

How to take it. When it is convenient. Whether it is easy not to forget. How it fits into the morning. Why you should not expect a miracle in one day. Why regularity matters.

It is the same with business. If I am doing something myself, I understand better where doubts may appear. What can feel unclear. Where support is needed. And where a person simply needs time.

Personal experience makes the conversation not theoretical, but normal.

I want people to see not only the result, but the path too

I think it is important on this website to show not only ready-made conclusions. It is important to show how a person comes to them.

How he moves. How he adapts. How he changes habits. How he starts thinking more about health. How he tries a product. How he looks at business. How he searches for his own normal way to speak with people.

Then the reader sees not just words. They see a path.

And maybe because of that, it becomes easier for them to write, ask a question or simply stay and keep reading.

Not every recommendation has to sound like advertising

I actually think the best recommendations often sound very simple.

“We tried it.” “It suited us.” “I use it.” “It is convenient for me.” “I can tell you how it looks in our life.”

Without big promises. Without trying to impress. Without the feeling that someone is about to convince you.

This is how I want to talk about FitLine, partnership and everything else that becomes part of our life.

I start with myself because it feels calmer

Calmer for me. And I think calmer for people who read or ask questions.

When there is personal experience behind the words, you do not need to try so hard to sound convincing.

You can simply tell it as it is. What you tried. What you noticed. What became part of the day. What you are still learning. Why it is interesting to you.

And then the person can feel for themselves whether it is close to them or not.

First experience, then words

For me, this is the most honest order. First try it myself. See how it works in real life. And only then talk to people.

This makes it easier to stay myself. And it makes the conversation easier too, so that a person does not want to run away, but can calmly ask a question if they are truly interested.
